Tax credits and financial support

2011 Update! : The tax credit for geothermal heating projects is now 36%

When does it apply?

ðNew construction intended as main residence (from tax declrataion viewpoint)
ðA renovation if it is your main residence
ðFor invstments done before December 31, 2011.

The tax credit applies to :

ðThe required equipment for your underground heat exchanger
ðIf applicable, heat exchanger storage vessels.
ðThe heat pump.
ðHot water vessels when required
ðDomestic hot water production and storage equipment.
ðSince 2010: The tax credit also applies to the labour for the installation of the underground heat exchanger..

The tax credit does not apply to :

ðThe radiators, the underfloor heating equipment.
ðPool heating options.
ðLabour for boiler room installation.
ðCooling options.

Tax credit limits :

The limits are based on your french tax declaration.
2880€ for a single person+ 144€ par dependent child.
5760€ for a couple + 144€ par dependent child.

Other financial support options:

0% loans (sorry, official texts in french only)

In summary, if you undergo several efforts to improve the performance of your construction (wall or roof insulation, double glazed windows, geothermal heat pump...), you can benefit from interrest free loans up to 30000 €. For these there are papers you need to fill in with the different "Artisans" participating in the project and go to your french bank for financing. If the income on your french tax declaration is above 45000€, you have to chose between tax credits and interrest free loans.

ANAH (Agence Nationale pour l'Amélioration de l'Habitat or National Agency for Housing Improvements)

ANAH can provide subsidies for your geothermal heat pump project.
Some of the conditions are:

ðYour construction is more than 15 years old and is your or your tenant's main residence.

ðIf you live there, the subsidies are regularly reevaluated based on your financial resources and the property's location.

ðIf you rent rhe property, the subsidy can be up to 20% of the cost of the project.
